Last term, we were delighted to welcome author @alicehemmingauthor, where she spoke to students about her novel The 13th Vampire and led a special writing workshop inspired by our Gothic Horror creative writing competition — held on Friday 13th February (we couldn’t resist the date! 🦇📖) After break, Alice delivered engaging talks to KS3 classes, sharing insights into her writing journey and the art of building suspense. In the afternoon, selected students took part in a workshop in the library, developing their own Gothic Horror stories alongside a published author. The competition was judged by Mr Blackburn, Ms Graham and Ms Petri, who were incredibly impressed by the creativity and imagination on display. Another successful Careers Drop Down Morning at The Elms Academy! Our students had the opportunity to meet inspiring professionals and university representatives, gaining first-hand insight into future pathways and careers.
